What is Waymaker Life Strategies, Inc.?

Waymaker Life Strategies is a non-profit organization that has been serving children and families in the Sunnyside community since 1999.  Our mission is to empower people with knowledge for successful living by providing education enrichment services to children and families beyond school hours.  One way we reach this goal is by sponsoring the Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools program through Waymaker's Youth Division, Houston's Youth Program for Enrichment ( H.Y.P.E.).

What is Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools? 

Children's Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools is a six to eight week summer educational and cultural enrichment program for children 5to 17 years of age.  The program aims to engage children's minds through stimulating books and recreational activities which promote appreciation for learning, positive role models, conflict resolution skills, and community service.  This program also involves weekly parent workshops and volunteer opportunities.
