This event provides our community a great opportunity to come together play for a Treatment/Cure and learn about Spinal Muscular Atrophy to help shed light on this silent killer.
Fight SMA is an Internatinal 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization committed "To strategically accelerate a Treatment and a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a deadly crippler and the number-one inherited genetic cause of infant death".
SMA is a genetic disease that causes a dramatic loss of strength and, in the worst cases, the loss of ability to swallow and breathe. The mind remains unaffected, while the muscles waste away, causing children with SMA to live inside dying bodies. A baby is born every day with SMA, a disease that is incurable, untreatable, fatal and under funded. One in every forty people unknowingly carries the gene for SMA. Seven million potential parents carry the gene.
Please come out and play to help us fight this horrific disease on this tweenty-seven holes of enchanting hills and challenge designed around three lakes and the sweeping Rio Grand River.
